The Ministry of Home Affairs announces the Padma Awards for the year 2025
The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced the prestigious Padma Awards for the year 2025, recognizing exceptional contributions across various fields. Instituted in 1954, the Padma Awards—Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri—are among the highest civilian honors in India, celebrating excellence in disciplines such as art, literature, science, public service, and sports.
This year, the Padma Vibhushan, the highest honor after the Bharat Ratna, has been awarded to individuals whose extraordinary work has had a transformative impact on society. Among the recipients is a renowned scientist whose pioneering research in renewable energy has set global benchmarks, alongside a celebrated classical dancer who has dedicated decades to preserving India’s cultural heritage.
The Padma Bhushan honors individuals who have made distinguished contributions in their respective fields. This year’s recipients include an iconic author whose thought-provoking literature has inspired millions and a business leader whose innovative initiatives have driven economic growth and job creation.
The Padma Shri, awarded for distinguished service in various fields, celebrates grassroots achievers and unsung heroes. The 2025 awardees include a social worker who has revolutionized healthcare access in rural areas and a young athlete who brought India glory on the international stage.
The selection process for the Padma Awards is rigorous, ensuring inclusivity and meritocracy. This year, special emphasis was placed on recognizing contributions from women, underprivileged sections, and individuals from remote regions, reflecting the government’s commitment to diversity and empowerment.
The Padma Awards ceremony will be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where the President of India will confer the honors. The recipients’ inspiring stories underscore the spirit of dedication and service, setting an example for future generations to strive for excellence and contribute to the nation’s progress.
