Plot

Jalsa revolves around the lives of two women from different backgrounds whose worlds collide after a tragic incident. Maya Menon (Vidya Balan) is a successful and influential journalist known for her uncompromising ethical standards. Ruksana (Shefali Shah), a loyal cook in Maya’s household, struggles to provide a better life for her family and dreams of securing her daughter’s future. The story takes a dark turn when Maya accidentally hits a young girl in a hit-and-run incident on a rainy night. Unbeknownst to her at the time, the victim is Ruksana’s daughter. Racked by guilt and fear, Maya tries to cover up the accident, while Ruksana begins a desperate search for justice for her daughter. As Maya’s carefully constructed life begins to unravel, she is forced to confront her own moral limits. Caught in a web of guilt, class divides, and ethical dilemmas, Maya and Ruksana’s bond becomes fraught with tension. Jalsa explores themes of privilege, accountability, and the difficult choices people make under pressure. As secrets emerge and loyalties are tested, both women are compelled to face painful truths about themselves and each other in this taut, emotional thriller.
