Plot
Holy Cow (2022) is a satirical comedy that explores themes of faith, societal norms, and the complex dynamics of rural India. The story follows Salim Ansari (Sanjay Mishra), a mild-mannered middle-aged man whose peaceful life is turned upside down when his beloved cow, Rukhsar, mysteriously goes missing one night. Set in a conservative village where cows are revered, Salim embarks on a frantic and absurd journey to find Rukhsar before the news spreads and invites trouble for him as a Muslim man. His search is fraught with unexpected encounters, misunderstandings, and humorous situations, highlighting the deeply ingrained cultural and religious sentiments surrounding cows. As Salim navigates the quirky and superstitious villagers, he is forced to confront his own beliefs and prejudices. Tigmanshu Dhulia portrays the local police officer, whose involvement adds another layer of satire to the narrative. Nawazuddin Siddiqui makes a memorable cameo, bringing a unique twist to the story. Holy Cow uses sharp humor and irony to critique societal hypocrisy and highlight the universal values of love and empathy. With its engaging performances and thought-provoking narrative, the film offers a blend of comedy and social commentary, delivering a message about unity in diversity.
