Plot

Bawaal follows the story of Ajay (Varun Dhawan) and Nisha (Janhvi Kapoor), a married couple facing deep-seated issues in their relationship. Ajay is a high school history teacher in a small town, obsessed with maintaining his image and status in society. He craves recognition and admiration, which leads him to hide his modest life and distance himself emotionally from his wife. Nisha, on the other hand, is loving and supportive but struggles with Ajay’s aloofness and his desire to appear perfect in front of others. Their marriage hits a rough patch, and in an attempt to repair their relationship, the couple embarks on a trip to Europe, visiting historical sites associated with World War II. As they explore places like Auschwitz and Normandy, they begin to draw parallels between the destructive nature of war and their own emotional battles. Through their journey, they confront personal and marital conflicts, including Ajay's insecurities and Nisha's desire for a genuine connection. As they navigate these historical settings, the couple starts understanding the value of compassion, sacrifice, and love. Bawaal is a poignant exploration of a fractured relationship, using historical events as metaphors for healing and transformation.
