Hirdesh Singh, known professionally as Yo Yo Honey Singh, was born on March 15, 1983, in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, India. He grew up in a Sikh family and completed his education at Guru Nanak Public School in New Delhi. Singh pursued further studies in music at Trinity College of Music in the UK before returning to India to launch his career. He married Shalini Talwar on January 23, 2011, but the couple divorced in November 2023 after allegations of domestic violence were made by Talwar, which she later withdrew following their divorce settlement. Singh has two siblings and has been influenced by diverse musical genres, including hip-hop and Punjabi folk.
