Suriya, born as Saravanan Sivakumar on July 23, 1975, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is an acclaimed Indian actor, producer, and philanthropist. The son of veteran actor Sivakumar, Suriya initially pursued a career in the garment industry before venturing into acting. He made his acting debut in 1997 with the film "Nerrukku Ner". Suriya gained prominence through his roles in films like "Nandha" (2001), which marked his breakthrough, and "Kaakha Kaakha" (2003), where he played a gritty cop. His versatility as an actor is evident in performances across various genres, including the critically acclaimed "Perazhagan" (2004), the high-octane action film "Ghajini" (2005), and the biopic "Soorarai Pottru" (2020), which garnered international recognition. Besides acting, Suriya is involved in philanthropic activities through the Agaram Foundation, which focuses on educational initiatives. Suriya is married to actress Jyothika, with whom he shares two children. Together, they are considered one of Tamil cinema's most beloved couples.
