Sridevi Kapoor, born Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan on August 13, 1963, in Meenampatti village near Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu, was a prominent Indian actress celebrated for her work across multiple film industries, including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada. She was the daughter of Ayyapan and Rajeswari Yanger and had a sister and two step-brothers. Sridevi began her acting career as a child artist at the age of four in the Tamil film "Kandhan Karunai" (1967) and transitioned to lead roles by 1976. She gained fame in Hindi cinema with the blockbuster "Himmatwala" (1983), becoming known as the first female superstar of Indian cinema. Throughout her career, she received numerous accolades, including a National Film Award and five Filmfare Awards. Sridevi married film producer Boney Kapoor on June 2, 1996, and they had two daughters, Janhvi and Khushi. Tragically, she passed away on February 24, 2018, in Dubai due to accidental drowning while attending a family wedding.
