Sonam Kapoor, born on June 9, 1985, in Mumbai, is a prominent Indian actress and a recognized fashion icon. She is the daughter of Bollywood superstar Anil Kapoor and Sunita Kapoor, and the niece of filmmaker Boney Kapoor and actor Sanjay Kapoor. Sonam grew up in a family deeply rooted in the film industry, which sparked her interest in acting from an early age.

Before stepping into the limelight, Sonam pursued her education at the United World College of South East Asia in Singapore, where she studied theatre and arts. She later assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali on the film "Black" (2005), which marked the beginning of her journey in the film industry. She made her acting debut in 2007 with Bhansali's "Saawariya," opposite Ranbir Kapoor. Although the film did not perform well at the box office, Sonam’s performance was appreciated, and she quickly gained recognition.

Sonam Kapoor’s career gained momentum with movies like "Delhi-6" (2009) and "I Hate Luv Storys" (2010). However, her breakthrough came with the critically acclaimed "Raanjhanaa" (2013), where she played the role of Zoya, a strong and independent woman.
