Sharmila Tagore, born on December 8, 1944, in Hyderabad, India, is a celebrated Indian actress known for her significant contributions to both Hindi and Bengali cinema. She hails from the illustrious Tagore family, which played a pivotal role in the Bengali Renaissance. Tagore made her acting debut at the young age of 14 in Satyajit Ray's "The World of Apu" (1959) and quickly became a prominent figure in Bengali films. Her transition to Hindi cinema began with "Kashmir Ki Kali" (1964), leading to numerous iconic roles in films such as "Aradhana" (1969), for which she won a Filmfare Award for Best Actress, and "Mausam" (1975), earning her a National Film Award. Throughout her career, she has received various accolades, including the Padma Bhushan in 2013 for her contributions to the arts. Sharmila was married to Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, the former Nawab of Pataudi and an Indian cricket captain, until his death in 2011. Together they had three children: Saif Ali Khan, Soha Ali Khan, and Saba Ali Khan.
