She hails from a Telugu-speaking family, the daughter of Pattabiraman and M. Lakshmi. Shanti Priya is the younger sister of actress Bhanupriya. She married actor Siddharth Ray on December 21, 1992, and they had two sons together. Unfortunately, Siddharth passed away from a heart attack in 2004 at the age of 40.
