Shammi Kapoor

Shammi Kapoor, born Shamsher Raj Kapoor on October 21, 1931, in Mumbai, India, was a prominent Indian actor celebrated for his significant contributions to Hindi cinema. He was the son of renowned actor Prithviraj Kapoor and Ramsarni "Rama" Mehra Kapoor. Kapoor began his acting career in 1948 with his father's theatrical company and made his film debut in 1953. His early films were not successful, but a turning point came with "Tumsa Nahin Dekha" in 1957, which established him as a leading star. Known for his energetic performances and distinctive style, he earned the nickname "Rebel Star." He was married to actress Geeta Bali in 1955, with whom he had two children: Aditya Raj Kapoor and Kanchan. Tragically, Geeta passed away in 1965 due to smallpox. Shammi later married Neila Devi, who helped raise his children but did not have more children herself. Kapoor's career spanned over five decades, during which he starred in numerous hit films and received multiple accolades, including a Filmfare Best Actor award for "Brahmachari" in 1968. He passed away on August 14, 2011.
