Shail Chaturvedi was born on June 29, 1936, in Amravati, Maharashtra, India. He began his career as a lecturer at Allahabad University but soon gained prominence in the 1970s and 1980s for his satirical poetry and political commentary. He was a regular participant in Kavi Sammelans (poetry gatherings) and became a notable figure among humorists of his time. Chaturvedi was married to Daya Chaturvedi, and the couple had three sons: Vishal, Vihan, and Vivek. He passed away on October 29, 2007, in Malad, Mumbai, after suffering from chronic kidney failure.
