Seema Biswas was born on January 14, 1965, in Nalbari, Assam, India, to Jagdish and Meera Biswas. She completed her education in political science at Nalbari College and later studied dramatic arts at the National School of Drama in New Delhi. Biswas gained prominence for her portrayal of Phoolan Devi in the film "Bandit Queen" (1994), directed by Shekhar Kapur, which earned her the National Film Award for Best Actress. Her career includes notable performances in films such as "Khamoshi: The Musical" (1996), for which she received a Screen Award for Best Supporting Actress, and "Water" (2005), which won her a Genie Award. Apart from Hindi cinema, she has acted in Marathi, Malayalam, and Tamil films. Seema Biswas has also contributed to television and web series, including "Maha Kumbh: Ek Rahasaya, Ek Kahani" and "The Family Man." She is recognized for her versatility and commitment to diverse roles. As for her personal life, Seema Biswas is married to actor and director Shankar Nag.
