Saurabh Shukla was born on March 5, 1963, in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. He is currently married to Barnali Ray Shukla.

Saurabh Shukla is an acclaimed Indian actor, screenwriter, and director known for his work in films, theatre, and television. He began his professional career in 1984 with theatre productions in Delhi. Shukla's big break came in 1994 when he was cast in Shekhar Kapur's Bandit Queen. He co-wrote the script for the 1998 cult classic Satya and essayed the role of gangster Kallu Mama, winning the Star Screen Award for Best Screenplay alongside Anurag Kashyap. Shukla has since appeared in numerous critically acclaimed films such as Slumdog Millionaire, for which he played Constable Srinivas. He has also written screenplays for films like Calcutta Mail, for which he received the Zee Cine Award for Best Screenplay in 2003[1]. Shukla has directed several plays and has been a part of the National School of Drama Repertory Company as an actor.
