S. J. Suryah, born Selvaraj Justin Pandian on July 20, 1968, is a prominent figure in the Indian film industry, known for his multifaceted contributions as an actor, director, and screenwriter. He hails from Vasudevanallur in Tamil Nadu and comes from a Tamil Christian family. Suryah has two siblings: an elder sister named Selvi and an elder brother named Victor. He pursued his education at Loyola College in Chennai, where he earned a degree in Physics. Despite his aspirations to become an actor, he initially worked as an assistant director under notable filmmakers before making his directorial debut with the successful film "Vaali" in 1999.
Suryah's career took off with several hits, including "Kushi" (2000) and "New" (2004), the latter of which also marked his acting debut.
