Rangayana Raghu, born Kotturu Chikkarangappa Raghunath, is a prominent Indian actor recognized for his extensive contributions to Kannada cinema. Hailing from Kotturu, Karnataka, he developed a passion for acting during his education at National College, Bangalore. His career began in theater in 1988 under the mentorship of noted playwright Rajashekhar, ultimately joining B.V. Karanth's Rangayana theatre group. Raghu transitioned to films in the late 1990s, with his first release being "Bhoomi Thayiya Chochchala Maga" in 1998. He gained fame for his versatile roles, often portraying comic and negative characters. Over the years, he has starred in over 150 films, including notable works like "Duniya," "Johny Mera Naam Preethi Mera Kaam," and "Kousalya Supraja Rama." In 2004, he co-founded a cultural organization and theatre group named Sanchari with his wife. Raghu's performances have earned him multiple accolades, including Filmfare Awards and Karnataka State Film Awards, solidifying his status as a celebrated figure in Kannada cinema.
