Rachana Banerjee, born Jhumjhum Banerjee on October 2, 1972, in Kolkata, West Bengal, is an accomplished Indian actress, entrepreneur, television presenter, and politician. She gained prominence primarily in Bengali and Odia cinema, while also appearing in films across Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada languages. Rachana's career began after winning the Miss Kolkata title in 1991 and participating in various beauty contests. She made her acting debut in Sukhen Das's film Daan Pratidaan in 1993, where her name was changed to Rachana. Over the years, she has acted in approximately 45 Odia films and appeared alongside Amitabh Bachchan in the Bollywood film Sooryavansham. In addition to her film career, she is well-known for hosting the popular Bengali television show Didi No. 1. In June 2024, Rachana entered politics as a member of the All India Trinamool Congress and won a seat in the Lok Sabha from Hooghly constituency. She was previously married to actor Sidhant Mohapatra from 2004 to 2004 and later to Probal Basu from 2007 until their separation in 2016. Rachana has one son with Probal Basu
