Raakhee Gulzar, born on August 15, 1947, in Ranaghat, West Bengal, is a renowned Indian actress celebrated for her work in Hindi and Bengali cinema. Growing up in a Bengali family, she received her education at a local girls' school. Raakhee began her acting career with the Bengali film "Badhu Bharan" in 1967 and made her Hindi film debut with "Jeevan Mrityu" in 1970. Over her four-decade-long career, she has appeared in more than 100 films and garnered numerous accolades, including two National Film Awards and three Filmfare Awards. Notably, she received the Padma Shri in 2003, one of India's highest civilian honors. Raakhee's performances in films such as "Daag: A Poem of Love," "Kabhi Kabhie," and "Tapasya" have left a lasting impact on Indian cinema. She was married to poet and filmmaker Gulzar in 1973, and they have a daughter, Meghna Gulzar, who is also a prominent writer and director. Raakhee's first marriage to Ajoy Biswas ended in divorce when she was still a teenager.
