Prem Chopra

Prem Chopra, born on September 23, 1935, in Lahore, British India (now in Pakistan), is a celebrated Indian actor known for his work in Hindi cinema. After Partition, his family moved to Shimla, where Chopra completed his education. He graduated from Panjab University and initially worked in the circulation department of "The Times of India" before pursuing a career in acting. 

 

Chopra made his film debut with the 1960 Punjabi film "Chaudhary Karnail Singh," which won a National Award. His breakthrough in Bollywood came with the film "Woh Kaun Thi?" (1964), where his role as a villain garnered attention. Over the decades, Prem Chopra became synonymous with villainous characters in Hindi films, earning immense popularity for his distinctive dialogue delivery and menacing screen presence. 

 

In a career spanning over five decades, Chopra appeared in more than 380 films. Despite often portraying antagonistic roles, he has been beloved by audiences for his versatility and memorable performances. His personal life is grounded, with a strong family foundation, married to Uma Chopra, and having three daughters.
