Prakash Jha was born on February 27, 1952, in Barharwa, Bettiah, West Champaran, Bihar, India. He is an esteemed Indian film director, producer, actor, and screenwriter known for his impactful political and socio-political films. Jha's early education took place at Sainik School Tilaya and Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1 in Bokaro Steel City. He pursued a BSc (Hons) in Physics at Ramjas College, Delhi University but left after a year to follow his passion for painting and filmmaking. His interest in cinema was sparked when he witnessed the shooting of the film "Dharma." He later enrolled at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune to study editing but did not complete the course due to institutional closures. Jha has been married to his wife, a significant figure in his life, although her name is not widely publicized.
