Nishikant Kamat was born on June 17, 1970, in Dadar, Maharashtra, India. He was a prominent Indian filmmaker and actor known for his significant contributions to both Marathi and Hindi cinema. Kamat gained acclaim with his directorial debut, "Dombivali Fast," which became a landmark film in Marathi cinema. He later remade this film in Tamil as "Evano Oruvan," featuring R. Madhavan. Kamat's Bollywood debut came with "Mumbai Meri Jaan," a film inspired by the 2006 Mumbai bombings. He directed several successful films, including "Force," "Drishyam," and "Rocky Handsome." In addition to directing, he also acted in films such as "Saatchya Aat Gharat" and played notable roles in "Rocky Handsome" and "Bhavesh Joshi Superhero." Kamat was married to his wife, Deepa Kamat. He passed away on August 17, 2020, in Hyderabad due to complications from cirrhosis and COVID-19.
