Moon Moon Sen, born Srimati Sen on March 28, 1954, is an accomplished Indian actress and politician known for her work across multiple film industries, including Hindi, Bengali, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, and Tamil. She hails from a prominent family; her mother was the legendary actress Suchitra Sen, and her father, Dibanath Sen, was part of one of Kolkata's wealthiest families. Moon Moon completed her education at Loreto Convent in Shillong and later graduated from Somerville College, Oxford. She also earned a master's degree in Comparative Literature from Jadavpur University. In 1978, she married Bharat Dev Varma, a descendant of the royal family of Tripura, and they have two daughters, Raima Sen and Riya Sen, both of whom are actresses.

In addition to her film career, Moon Moon Sen ventured into politics in 2014 when she joined the All India Trinamool Congress. She won the Lok Sabha elections from the Bankura constituency but faced defeat in the subsequent elections in 2019. Throughout her career, she has appeared in over 60 films and numerous television series, earning accolades such as the Nandi Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "Sirivennela." Despite her glamorous on-screen persona, she is deeply committed to family values and has expressed admiration for her husband's support throughout her career.
