Lalita Pawar was born Amba Laxman Rao Sagun on April 18, 1916, in Yeola, Nashik, India. She came from a wealthy family, with her father being a prominent silk and cotton merchant. Pawar began her acting career at the age of nine in the silent film "Raja Harishchandra" (1928). Her career spanned over 70 years, during which she appeared in more than 700 films across Hindi, Marathi, and Gujarati cinema. She was married twice; her first marriage to Ganpatrao Pawar ended due to infidelity, and she later married film producer Rajprakash Gupta. Lalita had a son, Jai Pawar, who also worked in the film industry. She passed away on February 24, 1998, in Aundh, Pune.
