Kamal Kapoor was born on February 22, 1920, in Peshawar, North-West Frontier Province, British India. He completed his education at DAV College in Lahore. Kapoor was related to the prominent Kapoor family in Bollywood, being a cousin of actor Prithviraj Kapoor. He had a successful career as an actor and producer, featuring in approximately 600 films across Hindi, Punjabi, and Gujarati cinema. Kamal Kapoor was married to Suman Devi and had five children: three sons and two daughters. His family includes notable figures in the film industry; he is the grandfather of director Goldie Behl and the father of Bollywood director Kapil Kapoor. Kamal Kapoor passed away on August 2, 2010, in Mumbai, India.
