Himani Shivpuri was born on October 24, 1960, in Dehradun, Uttar Pradesh, India. She hails from a Garhwali Brahmin family; her father, Haridutt Bhatt, was a Hindi teacher and poet. Himani pursued her education at The Doon School and later earned a postgraduate degree in Organic Chemistry from DAV College, Dehradun. She developed a passion for acting early on and attended the National School of Drama in 1982. Himani was previously married to Gyan Shivpuri until his death in 1995. She has two children: a son named Katyayan Shivpuri and another son named Mayank. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her character roles in both films and television series.
