Freida Selena Pinto was born on October 18, 1984, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She grew up in a middle-class Mangalorean family, where her mother served as a school principal and her father worked as a bank manager. Pinto developed an interest in acting at a young age, inspired by the victory of Sushmita Sen in the 1994 Miss Universe pageant. She attended Carmel of St. Joseph School and later graduated from St. Xavier's College, where she studied English literature. After completing her education, she briefly worked as a model and hosted an international travel show called "Full Circle." Pinto gained international fame with her role as Latika in the critically acclaimed film "Slumdog Millionaire" (2008), which earned her several awards, including a Screen Actors Guild Award. She has since appeared in various films such as "Miral" (2010), "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" (2011), and "Love Sonia" (2018). Pinto was previously in a relationship with actor Dev Patel from 2009 to 2014 and is currently married to Cory Tran, with whom she has one child.
