Esha Deol was born on November 2, 1981, in Mumbai, India. She is the daughter of renowned Bollywood actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini. Esha completed her education at Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai and later earned a Master's degree in Media Arts and Computer Technology from the University of Oxford. She married Bharat Takhtani on June 29, 2012, at the ISKCON temple in Mumbai, but the couple announced their separation in February 2024. Esha is a mother of two daughters: Radhya, born on October 20, 2017, and Miraya, born on June 10, 2019. She has a close-knit family that includes her siblings Ahana Deol and half-brothers Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. Esha is also known for her passion for sports; she was the captain of her school football team and represented her college in handball.
