His film career took off with Shyam Benegal's Ankur in 1974, followed by notable performances in Baazigar (1993), Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988), and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013). In addition to his film work, Tahil gained international recognition for his role as Dan Ferreira in the BBC soap opera EastEnders.
