Chitrangada Singh was born on August 30, 1976, in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India. She hails from a military family and pursued her education at Sophia Girls' School in Jodhpur. Initially aspiring to be an air hostess, she transitioned to modeling and gained recognition through music videos. Singh made her film debut in 2005 with Sudhir Mishra's critically acclaimed *Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi*, where she played the role of Geeta Rao. She was married to professional golfer Jyoti Randhawa from 2001 until their divorce in 2014, and they have one child together. Throughout her career, Singh has received several accolades, including the Bollywood Movie Award for Best Female Debut.
