Biswajit Chatterjee, born on December 14, 1936, in Calcutta, Bengal Presidency, British India, is a prominent Indian actor, director, producer, and politician. He is well-known for his contributions to both Bengali and Hindi cinema. Biswajit began his career in the film industry with notable performances alongside the legendary Uttam Kumar in films like "Mayamrigo" (1960) and "Dui Bhai" (1961). He gained fame in Bollywood with his role in "Bees Saal Baad" (1962), which marked a significant turning point in his career. Throughout his journey, he has acted in numerous films, including "Mere Sanam," "Yeh Raat Phir Naa Ayegi," and "Kahte Hain Mujhko Raja," which he also directed. Biswajit has been married twice; his first wife was Ratna Chatterjee, with whom he has two children, including the well-known actor Prosenjit Chatterjee. His second marriage is to Ira Chatterjee, with whom he has a daughter named Prima Chatterjee. Biswajit also ventured into politics and contested in the 2014 general elections as a candidate for the All India Trinamool Congress.
