Govardhan Asrani, popularly known as Asrani, was born on January 1, 1941, in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. He hails from a middle-class Sindhi family; his father opened a carpet shop after migrating to Jaipur post-Partition. Asrani completed his education at St. Xavier's School and later graduated from Rajasthan College, while also working as a voice artist at All India Radio to support his studies. He married actress Manju Bansal, whom he met while working together in films. The couple has appeared in several movies together and shares a strong bond both personally and professionally. Asrani has had a prolific career in the Indian film industry, spanning over five decades, during which he has acted in more than 350 Hindi films and numerous Gujarati films.
