Asha Bhosle, born on September 8, 1933, in Sangli, Maharashtra, is an acclaimed Indian playback singer and actress. She is the daughter of Deenanath Mangeshkar, a renowned classical singer and theatre artist. Asha's career began in 1943 with the Marathi film *Majha Bal*. She gained prominence in the 1950s with hits like "Nanhe Munne Bache" from *Boot Polish*. Asha is known for her versatility, having sung in over 20 languages and recorded more than 12,000 songs throughout her career. She is the sister of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar and has received numerous awards, including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and Padma Vibhushan. Asha was married to R.D. Burman, a prominent music composer, until his death in 1994.
