Aruna Irani was born on August 18, 1946, in Mumbai, India. She hails from a family with a background in performing arts; her father, Faredoon Irani, ran a drama troupe, and her mother, Saguna, was an actress. Aruna is the eldest of eight siblings and had to leave school after the sixth grade due to financial constraints. Despite her limited formal education, she became a prominent figure in Indian cinema. She is married to film director Kuku Kohli since 1990. Throughout her career, Aruna has been recognized for her contributions to film and television, receiving numerous accolades including two Filmfare Awards for Best Supporting Actress.
