Anurag Basu, born on May 8, 1970, in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, India, is a prominent Indian director, screenwriter, actor, and producer known for his impactful work in Hindi cinema. He hails from an upper-middle-class Bengali Hindu family and grew up in a theatrical environment influenced by his parents, who were both award-winning artists. Basu completed his BSc in Physics from the University of Mumbai and began his career in television before transitioning to films. He faced significant challenges early in his career, including a battle with leukemia during the filming of "Tumsa Nahin Dekha" (2004). Despite these setbacks, he achieved notable success with films like "Murder" (2004), "Gangster: A Love Story" (2006), and the critically acclaimed "Barfi!" (2012). His work often explores complex themes surrounding relationships and human emotions. Anurag Basu is married to actress and producer Tani Basu, and they have two daughters.
