Ameesha Patel was born on June 9, 1975, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She hails from a Gujarati family, with her grandfather being the prominent lawyer and politician Rajni Patel. Patel completed her education at Tufts University in the United States, where she initially pursued a degree in Biogenetic engineering but later shifted her focus to acting. She made her film debut in 2000 with the highly successful romantic thriller *Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai*, which established her as a leading actress and earned her the Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut.
