Khandkar Mohammad Adil Hussain, born on October 5, 1963, in Goalpara, Assam, India, is a prominent Indian actor known for his versatile performances in both mainstream and independent cinema. He hails from an Assamese Muslim family and is the youngest of seven siblings. His father was a headmaster, and his family has a rich educational background. Adil pursued a degree in philosophy from B. Borooah College in Guwahati before attending the National School of Drama in Delhi. He also studied at the Drama Studio London on a scholarship. Adil married Kristen Jain in 2007 after an incident during a performance of Othello at the Edinburgh Film Festival in 1999 brought them together. His career spans multiple languages, including Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Tamil, Marathi, and even international films in Norwegian and French. He has received critical acclaim for his roles in films such as The Reluctant Fundamentalist and Life of Pi, earning National Film Awards for his performances.
