A. R. Rahman, born on January 6, 1967, in Chennai, India, is an acclaimed Indian composer and musician originally named A. S. Dileep Kumar. He converted to Islam and adopted the name Allah Rakha Rahman. Rahman experienced a challenging childhood after the death of his father, R. K. Shekhar, a music composer, when he was just nine years old. This loss compelled him to support his family at a young age, leading him to play music professionally. He studied Western classical music at Trinity College in London and gained fame with his debut film soundtrack for Roja in 1992, which marked a turning point in his career. Rahman has received numerous accolades, including two Academy Awards for Slumdog Millionaire (2008), and is known for his innovative fusion of Indian classical music with electronic sounds. He is married to Saira Banu and has three children: A. R. Reihana, Fathima Rafiq, and Ishrath Qadri. Standing at approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, Rahman continues to influence the global music scene while maintaining strong ties to his Indian roots.
